John Bartle Joins Thinkpublic

Hello...*|FNAME|*

Why are we so keen on user-designed services. And why should you be?

It seems that politicians are falling over each other to tell us how nothing will ever be the same again. At thinkpublic we are all about enabling frontline staff and service users to design new or improved services.

User-designed services result in better services, which cost less overall because they truly meet the needs of users. It also makes service-users more self-reliant as they are not forced to seek other services for help.

If you would like to talk to us about anything featured here please give us a call on 020 72 47 2255.

All the best,
the thinkpublic team

John Bartle joins thinkpublic

We're very pleased to announce that John Bartle will join thinkpublic as non-executive Chair in April. John has been mentoring director Deborah Szebeko for the last year, as part of the NESTA creative pioneer programme.

"Having worked for a short while with thinkpublic as a mentor to Deborah, the company founder, I am delighted that we have now made this involvement wider and more permanent going forward. It's an impressive company; very good people, excellent work really helping organisations create homegrown innovation to improve what they do and how they do it.

They've managed very well before me but I hope my occasional assistance will add a little bit to what they do and how they do it"

Co-Design in Local Government

We have distilled all our experience of working with local authorities into the creation of our human government co-design approach.
We gather customer and staff insights into the problem, co-design ideas and solutions, prototype and test these solutions and if they work, we help the organisation embed the change. We find the process is particularly effective where the intervention requires a cultural change on the part of frontline staff.
If they come up with and own the ideas, they are motivated, rather than alienated, by the process.

We have already used our approach with Manchester City Council, the London Boroughs of Hounslow, Barnet, Lambeth, Barking & Dagenham, Tower Hamlets, Brent, Lewisham, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Capital Ambition. It has been successfully applied to customer service channels, innovation, housing services, social care and Total Place.
